Alex Kalef

After graduating for Babson College (Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA) with a Bachelors Degree in Business in 2002, Alex started his career in Italy with Bunge supplying the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean area with grains and oilseeds from both North and South American origins. His experience there extended from domestic logistics and freight to international supply oriented trading and vessel logistics. Shortly after being stationed in Rome, he continued building his expertise in the region actively managing risk management for toll crush operations in Turkey. Thereafter, Alex was recruited by Bunge Brazil (Ceval Alimentos), in 2006 to spearhead the Oils Desk out of Brazil supplying crude and refined vegetable oils for export and domestic refining and biofuels. In 2008, Alex relocated to Bunge’s USA headquarters to trade export soybeans while becoming part of a proprietary futures trading team leveraging Bunge’s local assets in to highly successful trading positions. After many years in Bunge, in 2010 he joined Sodrugestvo as Commercial Director building their start-up trading operations in Brazil into a successful supply and distribution platform. In 2012, Alex ventured on to start TSF Capital, focused on trade structured finance for the agricultural sector in Brazil. TSF capital expanded into providing an origination and export platform for smaller trading houses domiciled abroad, providing them with lean structures yet allowing them to benefit from origination arms extending all the way to agricultural producers. Currently Alex runs and manages 2 export-trading platforms from Brazil which supplies grains and oilseeds to a variety of markets. They are both fully integrated supply chain origination platforms acting in domestic and export operations. With more than 15 years in international trading business, he has developed a strong background as well as an extensive contact network in commodity-related areas, with an in-exhaustive drive to building solid and sustainable long-term business relationships.

Alex earned a Bachelor in Science form Babson College in Wellesley, MA. His specific area of expertise are business administration and economics. Alex has earned an executive MBA from Washington University in Saint Louis.

Alex is a sport aficionado. As a native Brazilian he loves soccer and squash. He occasionally playes golf when the time allows for it. He enjoys motorsports and travelling with his family to new and undiscovered countries.
