Christopher brought to the table over 20 years exposure in Sales, Trading, Risk Managements, and Business developments, together with his entrepreneurship, strong will to learn, and execution capabilities. He started his career journey in 1994 as a young salesman with local industry and importers in Indonesia from which he has started introducing innovation in new sales channel and within 2 years were entrusted to lead their sales team and consistently contribute over 15% growth of USD 25Million sales revenue. In 1999 he pursued another opportunity in Hong Kong started as FX Analyst with Tse’s securities and forex brokerage house, here was the beginning he took splash in financial markets, trading and risk managements from back office analyst desk. In 2000, he was then recruited by Cargill sugar Far East desk in Hong Kong to develop their sales trading presence and portfolio in South East Asia, with only entrepreneurship skill and willing to learn, working together with origination offices in Thailand, EEC, and Brazil. Besides marketing traditional Thai sugar, he was instrumental introducing inflow shipments of Brazilian Raw Sugar in to Asia, pioneering bagged sugar shipments from Europe to Asia which then became another alternative profitable product line for the group’s Sugar team. He pulls the first ever shipment of Brazilian bulk raw sugar in gearless panamax vessels, transforming shipment size from traditional handy size vessels to handymax and later supramax vessels, cashing along the efficiencies. Later then his sales trading portfolio grow over 12 times and becoming important cornerstone for many strategic originations plan, partnership initiatives, and trade financing deals for the group as it inherit with plenty of arbitrage trade opportunities. He was responsible for many significant large transaction of bagged white sugar with Indonesian government agency Bulog and other state owned enterprises during government import campaign. He was responsible in Malaysian government 3million Metric Ton raw sugar import program, and the private portion mirror trading opportunity. He initiated occasional synthetic domestic distribution business as business extension for the group, started a profitable tolling program with strategic refinery partners, which later become interesting strategy for other geography. He was consulted on the risk management by 2 Malaysian strategic customers on their operational and balance sheets which then initiate successful MYR 2Billion take over, and another MYR 2.5Billion IPO. In several occasions he involved in calibrating group’s VAR due to his transactions nature, consulted by other team in freight desk, and trade finance desk for trading opportunities derived from its portfolio. He was then asked to look after Japan, Taiwan and Korea market in parallel to the groups SEA sugar portfolio. Over the years with the sugar desk, he experienced a steep learning curve in derivatives, risk management, arbitrage trading, trade finance, logistics, and business development. This cooperation and collaboration culture among team contributes to business growth, and transform knowledge gained into significant value, from traditional FOB/FOB trading model into significant added value supply chain model. His last role was Senior Trader. Recently Christopher were involved in investment project developments for a PE seeking target in Indonesia, said were mandated within commodity supply chain, agriculture, natural resources, real estate and separately a financial technology initiative for financial services. Several projects under developments with total potential value over USD 1Billion. He led the effort together with local consultant and contributed his expertise in trading, valuations, risk management, and business development experience, which gives opportunity for a streamline and faster quicker on boarding process for the client.
Christopher holds a degree for Economic science, with emphasise on Marketing Management and international commerce. Besides natively spoken Bahasa Indonesia, he fluently speaks English, Bahasa Malay, and Chinese.
Christopher loves to spend time with his kids and wife, he cherishes travelling where he can meet up with many peoples, exchange ideas learned their culture. He enjoys classical music, sport fishing, photography and technology enthusiast
