Kevin is a consummate energy professional with several years of work experience, spanning several sectors of the Nigerian economy, including the Public, Private and Not-for-Profit Organisations. His management experience includes public policy research/development, risk management, strategic management, business planning/performance and technology research/venture management.
He has worked with and led both local and international energy industry experts to champion sustainable concepts in oil and gas resource management. He has also consulted for and provided project development services to industry players, particularly in the areas of energy (oil, gas and power) business set up and implementation strategies, during which he has developed workable models and solutions for business growth and development.
Kevin started his career as a research officer and later rose to the position of the head of energy research unit at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) - Nigeria’s premier private-sector think-tank and leading economic policy advocacy and research institution. In this position, he was actively involved in policy research and advocacy, resulting in the design and implementation of some major national policies and reports such as: the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS), Vision 2020-20; National Gas Master Plan; National Energy Policy; Policy on the Partial Deregulation of the Nigerian Downstream Petroleum Sector; Report of the defunct Technical Committee on the Niger Delta; Nigerian Content Development Bill; Reports of the Annual Nigerian Economic Summit; Memoranda on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB); Annual Data Analysis of Nigeria’s Economy on behalf of the World Economic Forum (WEF); Etc.
He is currently the founder and principal consultant at Kofound Global Consulting, where he is directly involved in project monitoring & evaluation, project investment appraisal & analysis, technical feasibility & due diligence studies, energy project development & management. Before venturing into private consulting, he had also worked for the following organisations as: Head of Consulting and Technical Studies at the International Energy Services Limited (IESL) – one of Africa’s major energy (oil, gas and power) services companies; Acting Director of Research and Advocacy at Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria – an affiliate of the Institute of Directors, UK; Key Accounts Manager at Amazon Energy Limited – one of Nigeria’s major energy and engineering design companies; Master 1 at Delta State Post Primary Education Board, Etc.
Kevin holds: an MBA in Project Management, obtained from Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, UK; a Master’s Degree in Energy and Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria. He is also a recipient of an award of an Honourary Doctorate Degree (Doctor of Science) in Petroleum Sector Management and Economic Development from the European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominica.
He is a member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE), Nigerian Society of Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), British Project Professional Society (BPPS), and International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), amongst others. He is an avid reader and writer, with a number of publications on the energy sector to his credit. He is widely travelled and has served as a training facilitator and a resource person at various energy industry fora.
