Olavo De Azevedo Souza

Olavo started his career at a very early age in the banking industry. He worked at Citibank Brazil, Citibank New York, Chase Manhattan Brazil and Banco Votorantim Brazil.

He has experience as Head of trading desk for more than 15 years in financial markets, specialized in fixed income derivatives, local and international, including interest rates, inflation and foreign exchange. He also has a solid experienced in trading spot markets, futures and options as well as sovereign and corporate bonds.

In addition, he also held many responsibilities such as pricing products for external and internal clients, acting together with the sales team in order to develop and selling financial products for external clients and was a permanent member of the executive committees of market strategy, credit and liquidity at Banco Votorantim.

He left Banco Votorantim to face a challenge as an entrepreneur, building his own mortgage brokering firm, in order to experience the real economy. This gave him a real insight not only into the Brazilian real estate market but also in terms of team management, training, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.

Olavo achieved his bachelor´s degree in Economics at Universidade de São Paulo (USP). He also owns a MBA in Finance at Ibmec Business School and successfully passed his CFA level 1 exam. 

He is fluent in Portuguese and English

Olavo loves traveling to meet different people and new cultures. He enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and dogs. Passionate about politics and macroeconomics. He also lectures Personal Finance courses as a volunteer, for high school students and low-income people.
