His professional career started back in 1990 in the educational industry in which he managed the marketing, sales and operations of exchange students programs. Right afterwards, he graduated at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Pablo spent several months working abroad in USA, Australia, Canada and UK. Such cultural experience involving host local families and young students from different countries started to create the spirit of adaptation and problem solving of Pablo’s mentality. The managing of persons as their “main product” also helped Pablo to become more minded about the human touch of business.
After several years in the educational industry, Pablo made his very first change of industry and company size, from educational to technology, from a family oriented business to a multinational Corporation such as HP. At Hewlett Packard Pablo got experience with big Corporations at international level, merges and acquisitions, (from Digital to Compaq and then to HP), with technical departments and a complexity that broader his management skills to a higher level.
Pablo stayed 5 years at HP as business developer in the 64-bit business unit and then got the call from a head hunter to become Marketing Director at Toshiba for Spain and Portugal. The Japanese Corporation was a new challenge in Pablo’s professional career because the mentality of the Japanese management is completely different as the one he experienced in an American one such as HP. He launched a branding campaign of Toshiba in the Retail industry and developed the sales and marketing activities of the Corporation in the Retail industry, becoming soon a recognized expert in new tendencies for the shopping experience.
Again a headhunter crossed in Pablo’s path and Pablo moved to the French Multinational Ingenico, a post of sale and pin-pads manufacturer. Pablo moved out of Madrid to the HQ of the Company and became the Product Marketing Director with responsibilities over the worldwide team of R&D, Marketing, Sales and Purchases. During this period, the cost effective decisions, the negotiations with suppliers and customers and the building of roadmaps with its pressure on time, cost and specs became the day-to- day job of Pablo. He managed a big team of Product Managers, Business Developers and marketing departments at local subsidiaries.
Pablo’s family business has always been in the distribution of fertilizers. In 2009 the family business purchased a company in the USA called Primary Resources Inc., a niche trader of solid sulphur. Pablo accepted the offer to manage the Company and moved to Stamford, CT to make it more profitable and efficient. He started developing the product range and introduced cement raw materials, fertilizers and petro-chemicals. Also, Pablo developed new suppliers, markets and business partners and increased the size of the bulk vessels Primary traded with from an average of 4.500 to more than 7.000. The other task Pablo made was to build the processes and communication flows to become a more transparent and efficient business. Negotiating with refineries, prilling plants, fertilizer producers, chemical companies, etc. made of Pablo a recognized player in the industry with expertise in supplying, operations, brokerage, finance, sales, problem solving and people managing. Recently Pablo has been appointed as Global head of sales and marketing for Highfield Resources, a public company in the Australian stock exchange
