Rodrigo Velho
Rodrigo is brazilian, born and raised in the south of Brazil. He started his professional life working as sales executive for IT companies such as Dell Computers where he could build strong commercial fundamentals.
Later on he decided to pursue his passion: foreign trade, and started a succesfull career working for a chilean container carrier CSAV during 10 years where he oversaw the commercial department of the main office in Sao Paulo leading more than 20 people under his responsability, such as sales executives, key accounts, inside sales and sales supports.
Rodrigo left CSAV to join Maersk Line where he took the mixed position of key account manager and business development manager and played an important role of handling accounts such as BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen and other automotive accounts.
On the other side, as business development manager, he led containerization projects of fertilizers which created an important market for Maersk Line.
This project opened the doors of the fertilizer trading and his commercial skills were very welcomed by Nitora Commodities (the Zug-based fertilizer trading house). Responsible for the whole Latin America region, he opened the market for the swiss based trading house selling manly nitrogen and phosphates.
Such a strong commercial and logistics background led Rodrigo to the commercial management of one of the biggest container terminals in Brazil giving him an extensive and complete commodity profile.
Rodrigo owns a MBA in foreign trade from Fundação Getulio Vargas, one of the most recognized brazilian educational institution.
He is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
As a traditional Brazilian, Rodrigo is passionate about football and is fond of sports in general.
Runner, Rodrigo is aiming at running a marathon some day. Father of a boy, Rodrigo regards his family as his biggest treasure
