Santiago started off his career as an auditor with Price Waterhouse Coopers, in Cali, Colombia, he was In charge of planning, designing, and implementing the field tests within the process of evaluating the reasonableness of financial amounts, controls and verification of the correct implementation of accounting policies and practices (COL GAAP and US GAAP). He then joined the corporate banking division of CITIBANK in Bogota, he was in charge of planning, designing, and implementing the field tests within the process of evaluating the reasonableness of financial amounts, controls and verification of the correct implementation of accounting policies and practices (COL GAAP and US GAAP). Later on, he joined FEDECAFE in Bogota, as a treasurer.FEDECAFE, Bogotá, Colombia. Treasurer. He was in charge of the general management of the Treasury at the National Coffee Grower’s Association of Colombia and the National Coffee Fund. He was handling the relationships with the banks. In charge of defining strategies for: exchange risk hedging, investment, funding, management/administration of cash (collections and payments) and management of assets and liabilities. Since 2008, he is the manager (and Partner) of Colrenta, being responsible for the general structuring of the company in the Colombian and U.S.A (Miami-Florida) markets, developing financing solutions for small and medium companies through the discount of invoices, contracts and any other future cash flows adequately supported. In charge of the definition and implementation of the strategic plan of the company, as well as the credit, compliance and operations policies and procedures. Responsible for building the staff of the company and its commercial force. Responsible for the definition of compensation schemes. He built a team of 17 people divided in four departments, Commercial, Credit Analysis, Finance and Operations. During the first year of the company he reached US$12 million in generated assets and built a solid base of customers. He managed to stabilized the asset generation on US$1.8 million per month.
Santiago holds a degree in General Management from Universidad ICESI of Cali, a Master in Finance from CESA, Bogota and an Executive MBA from Universidad de los Andes, Bogota. Santiago speaks English and Spanish.
Santiago is a member of the PASAI Committee (FEDECAFE), member of the board of directors of PROCAFECOL SA, member of the investment committee of GLOBAL EDUCATION and member of the credit committee of CITYBANK. He is fond of squash, cinema and theater. He has been involved with a few NGO's looking after orphans and the elderly. And above all, he is devoting as much quality time as possible with his family.
