For a bank in Geneva, we are looking for a Credit Risk Officer.

Mission

Manage the credit risk for a large portfolio of Trade & Commodity Finance clients (active in the oil, metals and soft commodities) and Corporate Clients.

Represent the Credit Risk Department in front of internal stakeholders

Can hold an Alternate Approval Mandate.

Tasks and responsibilities


  • Senior Credit Risk Officer which could hold an alternate decision mandate and as such:


    • Participates in the Local Credit Committees and related meetings e.g. hedge and risk scans


    • Can have a coaching role for less experienced teams members on transactions and files on a day to day basis


    • Contributes actively to the operational credit risk process follow up in collaboration with the credit documentation officer and credit risk support officer


    • Signs off as second alternate mandate holder on transactions and limits and liaises with global and regional mandate holders on the local decision process and structure of the credit lines exceeding the local mandate.



 

Apart from that the Senior Credit Risk Officer will:

Ensure a sufficient quality of credit proposals prepared by the Relationship Managers; make sure that all the information necessary for the decision-making is included in the credit proposal;

Prepare a concise and opinioned credit risk advice on the proposed credit focusing on items such as financial risk, counterparty risk, price risk, country risk, political risk, third party dependencies as well as reputational risk with suggested solutions to improve the structure and/or mitigate the risks;

Ensure the review of the Legal documentation from a credit risk point of view i.e. this reflects the credit decision properly and meets internal standards.

Ensure a proper administrative follow up of credit decisions and ensure the credit risks are correctly reflected in the credit reporting systems.

Ensure there is a proper follow up and monitoring of credit risk metrics of the allocated portfolio on a regular basis, identify trends and developments

Professional and Educational Experience Required (Including years and type of experience and necessary qualifications)

 


  • University degree (Master) or equivalent (CFA)


  • Min 10 years relevant banking experience of which min 5 years in Trade Finance


  • Preferably candidate has held a decision mandate before


  • Preferably candidate has worked in a front office function


  • Swiss or EU nationals only
