Trade Finance Attorney - Associate position

Our client, one of the world's leading law firm specialised in international commerce with presence in 11 countries, is looking for an Associate Lawyer in Trade Finance based in Geneva whose main tasks will be to:


  • advise on all forms of finance, including syndicated, club and bilateral debt financings as well as leasing, factoring, export credit financings, seller's credits, derivatives, bond issues or other forms of capital raising.


  • give assistance in structuring and securing trade finance transactions for oil & gas, metals and soft commodities


  • advise on the appropriate title documents (bill of lading, FCR, etc.), storage arrangements (collateral management, stock monitoring, etc.), security structure (pledge, assignment, guarantees, etc.) and payment methods (documentary credits incl. DOCDEX procedures).


  • advise banks, traders, logistic companies and insurers in litigious and non-litigious matters


  • plan and manage large scale and multi-jurisdictional disputes before state courts and arbitration tribunals against borrowers, producers, financiers, traders, transporters and end users.


  • act in criminal proceedings in trade related matters (mostly fraud).


  • develop a portfolio of clients in relation to the trading or financing of physical commodities


 

Requirements:


  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Trade Finance within a law firm preferably


  • Expertise on UK and Swiss laws


  • Strong commercial and marketing skills


  • Creative, quick and clear-minded


  • Excellent English. French, German or any other language is a plus


  • Should invoice min 1500 hours per year


  • Swiss work permit holder
