Sr. Commodities Research Analyst - Vice President - Team Leader

The candidate is expected to take on a leading role and expert for Commodities (energy, metals, soft) to provide regular analysis for these products. This involves interacting with clients on a regular basis for market discovery and delivering our analysis.

In addition, the candidate will also liaise with internal product experts such as Data Scientists and assist in publication of Commodities reports. Candidate will also provide analytical and management support to the product experts and have the responsibility to control relevant database and be able to digest / synthesize data from relevant charts and tables to present highly qualitative reports of quantitative data. Candidate will also work on preparing top class presentations that his team of product experts would create for clients discussions and business development.

Job Description

Candidate will perform as a Research Analyst Team Leader for all Commodities product chain. This involves interacting with clients to discover prices, operating status and working on supply – demand analysis, modelize the physical commodities business with the derivatives (paper) trading activity. Candidate will then provide weekly – monthly & annual price and yielding forecasting models on the various commodities products.

Candidate will liaise with internal product experts and assist in publication of Commodities reports. Candidate will also provide analytical support to the product experts and have the responsibility to lead and motivate a team of Research Analysts to gather data and update relevant database and be able to create and modify relevant charts and tables required in the reports.

Additional Description

Essential Functions:  This job scope moves across 2 roles within the Commodities team.

a) Analyst support

1. The job involves liaising with the regional product experts and publishing reports on weekly and monthly basis.

2. Create/update the charts and tables that get published in the report. Own the responsibility to publish the capacity and price database.

3. Finalize top class presentations for Client meetings, Conferences and other business development initiatives.

4. Respond to client data requests.

 

b) Commodities Expert

1. Interact with market participants for price and news discovery focusing on the whole spectrum of commodities.

2. Work on supply - demand dynamics of the focus product - both short term & long term. Produce price and yield forecasting reports.

3. Meet clients and update on outlook for concerned products, assess client needs for the company's products.

3. Promote the company's expertise on the value chain and be responsible for commercial growth of the service.

 

Requirements:

1. Proven leadership skills for a dynamic and motived team of Analysts and personable interface at multiple levels within the organization

2. Cooperatively work across the organization at multi levels to efficiently and effectively utilize the resources and knowledge base available in a team approach.

3. Communicating internationally with consultants in other world regions in multiple time zones effectively.

4. Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in engineering or sciences.

5. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. Excellent analytical and organizational skills

8. Fluency in English and Knowledge of Mandarin (Chinese) are essential.

9. Attention to detail and supportive management style are pre-requisites for the job.

10. Minimum 10 years of experience in related role.
